Sabres game tonight! Woo!
The other night I randomly started thinking about my adopted great grandma Myrtle (Nelson Skog) Peterson (of minnesota), and when I was at her house as a kid. What an amazing lady. She had this figurine of a frog, sitting on a lilly pad with a fishing pole..if you wound a little knob, it slowly turned in a circle, and played the song 'Up A Lazy River' (click that link, and scroll down to hear a sample of the song, hosted by amazon).
I got all obsessive about the song, and found a few differant versions of it (which I've added to my amazon wishlist). When I listen, I imagine myself hurled back in time, with a hot summer breeze blowing this music over me from a nearby river boat, at sundown...and many delicious other scenarios. God I love that type of jazz.
She had many wonderful things..I received lots of awesome 'junk' jewelry from her, and I've got this really awesome CAT figurine that used to belong to her...here's a pic of it so you can see the retro righteousness that I treasure:
